SUSTAINABILITY, THE YEAR INPERSPECTIVE

Bolstered, Braced, Buttress, acrimony or the legelating of processes and procedures. To live within our limits. This is the definition I got after introducing the object. That is the responsibility in the medium term. The regularization of all the models terms of reference and indicators. In 2001 after a final decision to take responsibility of the situation, it was a must do. So to the whims of the masses became like a plague.

Sales, sales and more sales. Every one buying and selling and building and acquiring. But so did biodiversity, empowerment, and sustainability become part of the new decade’s vocabulary. But that was only for the purpose of conferences and big UN gathering. Little people were not supposed to understand and worry about them. Global warning was only in theory and as for biodiversity to quote the big men; it was a theory from space.

People have asked me for all this time of my silence, why I am not writing Well I am very touched too. Because at least now I am sure that we have communicated well. But the simple answer is, It is very difficult to write when there is nothing substantive to write home or to the market about especially with imperial formula and information dissemination. At least in the field of marketing journalism, decision and analysis and in terms of the global attempt to organize our standard of life and way forward.

It is therefore important to state clearly our terms of reference for the purpose of our deliberations. Even though the issue would be going on back and forth for clarification, however for us following our communications some common references are familiar. Instead of writing I have been posting reviews and past articles with intent. It is because some of these even though may not look formal, is intended and the action or omission is for the purpose of relevance. The facts can all however be referred to. Fastest moving in economy. Middle class income status. Single digit inflation attainment. Those are our perimeters of operation, if we are still on the Millennium Development goal among other goals. But for us who are advocating for our own time and pace since each and every system would be at one point or another on the Product and services delivery life cycle. That is where we are heading for. A comfortable standard of living for all people. So like we on the first of March experienced and felt a kind or time change we could experience like manner for the beginning of the year and the indicators that the year would have to work with to be on track.

2011 was for documentation formulation, formation of various institutions as well as their strengthen and grounding. I must admit that the media has not done well with the access they have had at all. They are the fourth protocol but they have to accept the rules of the game and their concrete position in the decision making unit.

They have rather been guided by politicians who have specific agenda which if was towards national goal should have found us mopping up the pieces of our country building by now. But they have an election to win or lose which gives them no choice but retards the national agenda. I cannot refuse to mention the Woyomi issue which has been exploited to the fullest by now and has served its purpose of derailing the real situation.

Financial engineering is a reality that involves millions and billions. The country need to learn quickly and save the international embarrassment. In December 2004, I found myself having to represent the Electoral commission in United Kingdom. It was December election and the people had assembled in my small Neasden flat for the result. I was surprised at the predicament they had put me in. I started calling Ghana for the results well, maybe I was biased in expecting and change of government after one term but the fact is as an analyst at that time, the NNP for Goal attainment purposes, did not deserve a second term. That too may have been biased but it was based on imperial analysis of the times, articles like before you vote think and Ghana polls defaced which made me unpopular . But HIPC and building of public latrines was not going to make me feel any different. Especially when there was no need to go that far back into the Dark Age callS from the former first lady to our house help in vain for any news of the election results. All the phones rang but no reply. Now I understand why and a lot more.

Finally I got through to a credible source by then in parliament and these were her exact words .Ras if we do not give them eight years how can we judge them.. I was quiet taken aback. But hey that was the situation. So in the higher circles, It did not matter that the NPP had lost the election. Then I called a friend who I knew would be very close to the decision agreement. And he said Rast we for give them eight years eno be so you no go fit talk anything. So when I put the phone down the people were all staring at me. So I quickly said, they say the NPP have won.

Then by March 2005 I was in the country. And that was what the argument remained, no matter who I spoke to. That to me was very sentimental and very undemocratic. But today, I respect president Mills very much. I did not know him even then. I am asking from an analytical point of view, where has that argument gone and where are those who made that decision..There is the need to maintain the status quo for the purposes of our national agenda. That alone for me is a good reason to declare Professor Mills winner of the 2012 December election. But that too is sentimental. We will therefore not go down that same line.

I must mention that for those of us who are not aware of the role of the Monitoring and evaluation of policy ministry courtesy of the office of the president, it is important to get and update to put as on the same page for a credible analysis and understanding. But the president and the party are not even relevant when it comes to the issue of national sustenance, economic development and youth empowerment.

But we have terms of reference that has made our target narrow to nail. It would be very disruptive to look ideology to distract and economic and Global agenda. I believe the three credence of our deliberations if has not been accepted by the international community would have been know by all.

The leadership of the nation is therefore at the mercy of the loyalty of the people who have the right to think both rationally but are allowed to think sentimentally if they so wish. But is it not common sense that we make our lives easy with referable and practical rules. So the nation must now come to the point where we all woke up in the morning on the same page. That is a necessary indicator if we will reach our goal.

But to make it better use the time even more profitable, There is a cluster of Ghanaians and globally, between the ages of thirty five to forty five, they are everyday people, not necessarily known for any important reason but will be the next leadership of the country. They will form the middle class status and sustain the effort that we have made as a nation. These clusters have not got a home, good jobs and a stable family life.

And even in the cluster, there is a Kremlin based simply on institution of study and the year of study. It is them who have made the numbers to swing votes over the period. However there is something very unique about them.

They have not been broken nor debriefed up till now. There is a need for a collaboration to prove we are on one page. They offer their loyalty to the stability and the continuity of our economic journey. Leadership of the country on their part must come meet them at the door. That is the meaning of the virginity of our nation Ghana. In the past names derogatory have been given due to the misinterpretation of this complicated concept. But with the circle the virgin too must be acceptable to approaches.

It is this integration that will cement the terms of reference especially the fastest moving economy. The Theme for twenty twelve is sustainability. I will therefore do one more thing for our benefit. Like the experience of first March, I will make the next month the beginning of the year. But it just makes sense since the cultural season says so. So the Ga’s will plant corn next month. This is not even an issue of sustenance but a religious requisite for our journey ahead of us. The issue of our culture recently became a public debate when libation was not poured on Independence Day. I just want to emphasis that we are too far advance to make our culture a political debate. Our culture is not a political debate anymore and I believe in the coming months, the mopping up exercise will cater for all the cultural and social issues that have been put on hold. The analogy in the president’s words was we do what is necessary before what we define as proper. Essence is of importance in the academic analysis as we have been met with.

I have since January attempted to present this theme. That is why I have the Introduction trying to explain the meaning of the word. But last year March by now we had just finished reviewing the constitution and were all very excited. The sustenance theory would therefore require that we would have done something deliberate to advance the document that was compiled. That is the practicality of the theme.

Then in May 2012, there would come a Policy fair to advance the one that took place last year 2011 May. We cannot however sustain the situation at the Agbogbloshie market. It is a pre-requisite for the National advancement. We cannot sustain the situation at the Rawlings Park where the gutters are choked and we people are sitting next to it feeding the nation. This on health, humanitarian and sentimental grounds very wrong. If an epidemic should and breaks, it will affect the Nation and globe.

What is the solution? The government is currently in the middle of constructing the sewerage system in the capital, moving the recycle plant to a conducive place and closing down the current waste disposal sites. It is the responsibility of all individuals and businesses to understand these issues without prejudice. The private public partnership agreement is the way to involve civil society in the process.

Even though because of the time change I have bought my analysis late, It is no doubt the theme for the President better Ghana agenda as I have seen posted around the city has the theme Sustained peace and unity for National development. It means that the indicators in our domain are in line with the global agenda. It will explain on we the local people the constraint and the pain that we have had to endure. But our only reward is in the ability to sustain each and every positive effort that we have witnessed.

But nature has played its role so effectively in all the above. Quickly then we should be asking what the use of our working document, indicators and all the information relate to. The purpose of the government has a duty to advance the life of the citizenry. The measures of advancement should therefore involve the indigenes. For the whole locality that are stack in the community cannot be moved to build the city as is the plan. The option is to offer them part of the accommodation and property that are to come up. If we are building sky scrapers in James tome, then it is just fair that their collateral and land which is the necessary fixed capital should also be their investment capital. They deserve the first four floors of any such building on their land.

They deserve to have job opportunities in the businesses to be set up. And their future needs the same assurance. We would have cut down the vision twenty twenty if we start work in March 2013. The assumption is the we are in December 2011 now. That is the reality of our complex situation. But I was at the rally of both the NPP and the NDC.

I will have to make a comment since it is an indicator worth not ignoring. That Saturday of the NPP rally I had to go to the bank around liberty house in the morning. I therefore could not avoid seeing the buses trooping in well organized and in numbers. The situation was tensed and charged. My uncle who is very passionate and had heard so much of the Wayomi was going to go to the Mantse Abgona to make a statement.

Even though I would not risk the life of the eighty five year old man, I took a chance to get him close to the action. . By James town police station, I became nervous. It was not a rally any more. It was a ritual to prepare a group of people for war. I was very upset.

We had to rush away from the scene. I was not surprised what followed after that which we all witnessed. The whole event was swallowed by the town, the people and God. The next day it rained like mad. Perhaps to wash off all the defilement of the community. But the NDC rally was a carnival. It was organized and was spread all over. From Korle –bu where we were coming from, it was not people in buses and T-shirts; it was people rushing to the rally grounds. They were children with their families holding hands and watching over each other.

It started to rain, then people put up their umbrellas, then the Rained stopped. It is true that they have the umbrella. But the people of Legon will agree with me that it rained. That too could be baised since it rained on both occasions. I did not hear what was said. But the party continued into the night. As usual we were at Zion Street by chance to catch a glimpse of the party. They did not offer us T-shirts or any money but neither were we in any tensed of compromising situation. Please the town looked happy.

That brings us to the issue of the position of the party founder. It is very important that he be made to feel as special as the word means. If the party can operate even without him. Living legends are a reality in our time and we need to recognize that. But the norm is to honor our heroes after they are gone. It is an unconscious reality that is why there is the need to make a concerted effort to change it. Some of us are here because f his work and we may not be comfortable with any option. The simple reason is that we are officers before gentlemen. The flag and country however has more weight on our action and thinking.

But were we not all in Ghana when the founder of the party was demonized. So the choice for those who were not at the ground is what I have briefed. We need to work together for the future like in a direct shot. Going back and front on the kind of digit that the inflation figure is lingering on is not good for us in the community who do not have a job to get paid so we can also compare what the value of the money is. But please with gold, cocoa and oil, I am expecting Ghanaians to stop paying taxes some time soon.

The good news is that, it will be difficult to use money to influence the votes of the able thinking Ghanaian's. But it will be better if we only speak constructive. Sustenance means implementation, stabilization and modeling. That calls for objectivity and concerted thinking. The results of the NDC primaries scared me a lot. My concern was that the structure would not encourage in effectiveness since deputies are eyeing the seats of their ministers. That is one set back I cannot overrule. We can therefore include the redefinition of the role of our political representation that has been under utility till now. Yes since the country must have been reflective of all the qualities and accords allotted to her credit.

In theory and practice therefore our actions, inactions and omissions must be geared towards dealing with how to sustain our positions as

1. the fastest growing economy,

2. attaining middle class income status.

3. sustaining the single digit inflation.

Choosing leaders, party representation and all the positioning is negotiable. I am afraid to say however that the above are not. I would like to end by quoting from one of oratory and impact. If the head is perfect, then the body must be likewise. There is no use having a perfect head with a rotten body. It is the responsibility to every Ghanaian at this junction to work towards attaining the near perfection of the head. Just a bit of Global concerns. It is a fact that the African Union has a responsibility to take up the mantle of leadership. I would therefore advise that the Sudan issue, Syrian issue, the Nigerian issue and the Haiti issue are staring in our face.

We can set up arbitration as a country in leadership to augment and make these issues on the fast track. We therefore hope that we have all enjoyed the analysis and we are going to make deliberate efforts to advance our country under the umbrella of Sustenance in our positive better Ghana Agenda. I head a so called media guru saying the constitution does not cover the first lady like that. Does that mean she can be defamed without cause…?
