THE SOVEREIGNTY OF OUR NATION.

The constituents or congruity of a nation specified and demarcated accordingly has a history of an ideology, founders, and martyrs.

These people also had the thinking of co-existence, government, rules, and most importantly the will of continuity of what they had so hard fought defend and created with the hope that people after them would hold and pass on.  This is in actualization in our own situation Mother Ghana and Africa. The sovereignty that we enjoy today is the hard work of patrons and far thinking men of yesteryear.  It becomes the responsibility of after bearers to build upon and advance the progress that has been the bases of which we all exist today.

Both of us are a descendant of both sides of the political divide of yesterday.  It is important to note that there is however categories those nations have been put into. The bases are advancement, strength, sustenance and most importantly the sovereignty.  The diction for Sovereignty would help us understand why.’ in control of a country

RULING

Ruling, It must lie with the people on the back bone of Independence and self governance.  That is the responsibility for the citizenry. The choice of the leadership is there fore what we see being practised until everyone has a say in nation building and their solutions. It becomes again very important that such people with the sovereign power be capable and objective to up hold the freedoms and liberties enshrined under chapter 5 of the 1992 Constitution.  It is important that such responsible have knowledge of meaning and implications of their actions and inactions.  It is conclusive that the people must be as capable as the people the chose to provide them with leadership.

On the other hand, it is the responsibility of those who aspire for such leadership position to be up to the task as per their positioning and the peoples mandate to rule.  But we should endeavour that the right pegs are in the right hole for every result, jigsaw, puzzle, and other thinking of success.  With out much prejudice but in accordance with time I have cut this analysis and back it with practical thinking. It is strange how the jigsaw will fit into the puzzle of sovereignty.  So by popular vote of two against one to listen to Asem pa FM. Kaba talk show. So I hear a woman has been assaulted at Odododiodoo and she was on the line. AGAIN…..violence again? So now it is my problem. We lost track and back when the lady started speaking, It was a sad voice. One of my colleagues said it is the voice of Uslar. The other quickly countered, ‘No way! If it was her it would have been with extreme drama to say the least. So we listened careful. Now to the substance of her narration.  Something to the effect of the acronym for receiving a dirty slap.

In her case from behind, but literally to “wayi” mean to remove from of take or a portion of. But under extreme condition depending on the variables one could borrow wayi in Akan to show the extend in this case Wayi ma Sumu (removed part of my eye) could be borrowed or lent out to describe the extent of the power of a slap. I do not know of any other part of the body that anyone could wayi (Remove) we could replay the program for clarification but fortunately as the program went on, Kaba, The host had to exclaim aloud. ‘He did whaaat? But I believe it pulled the victim together and managed not to indulge in the whims of the host. All this while we did not know it was our sister talking. It was when she introduced the counterpart Abu that we all tuned in to the horror and shock of the incident. Yes because I quickly imaged what might have happened. Even at that point my only question was if the Victim now knowing what was up was for real.

THE POLITICAL SITUATION

Two quick points. That area is a no go area for anybody including me. No one lives there and God is the only kind of referee around those places and yes I have the political details of Ododiodoo since 2001. Other places depending on your political divide is a no go zone.  So in the Mankatah by election that Tackie Kommey won. Did the ruling government not create a terror alert in Bukom?  We can easily go to flickers and multiply to check some photos for the scenario.  Secondly, she knew the situation on the ground, she would not have come on air. Please thugs are for hire but in odododiodoo they work for free. It is part of the political culture of the area to protect their rights. Beating attacking and domination is the part of the game. But I warn us all. when we brought weapons into the game. Remember What a Pity? In the Sempe palace seizure story in 2009?  The names she is referring to are even on the Police wanted list. Thank God they may never find what I am talking about.

Unfortunately I could not follow up the story till the next day when I was ironing to set off to my wahala. My mother listens to Oman FM so I have no choice but to hear the news. Then again the Host announces that Ursula was going to be interviewed.

Two years ago, I asked someone to take me to Ursula …she wanted to know why? I wanted to tell her how much I admire her and if she could quit politics. I was told she would have laughed at me. But that was why I wanted her out of the Peace fm program and talk shows and the rest. Then presenters ridicule you based on your level of venerability.  By the time she stated talking I was sitting by the radio wanting to catch up with the latest. We all know Odododiodoo is news for us. So in this narration she changed the number of the attackers from fifty to twenty, then the Wayi, became Payi. Payi is to break. That is the Akan language for you. Acrimony. Also to be lent of borrowed for a dirty slap. So now the renowned lawyer has come in the dock and look what a bad victim she happens to be.

So then, the word that was introduced by the end of the program was Madam, Did they ATTACK WAYI, PAYI OR BO WAA SUMU??????  But a commentator was of the view that Wo pia ne etikor( U just pushed the head of her head.) Prew ni asow atschie (flick the back of her eye) can all fit in her assault.  But who has caused all this.  That is seriously on the light side. But by the time I was leaving the house the whole episode would not leave my head. ….I was subconsciously saying oh! She is just talking, she would not dare return prepared to smash the area….Uslar pleaasssee..

Then in the traffic we saw the head lines. Very news for the Daily Guide…so abstractly the subject came back into the action. Odododioo is news.’USLAR SLAPPED!!!’

We were going to a meeting so no politics I just said casually to the guys in the car. In the rules of engagement no matter the score in the first ramble. Please you do not go back to attack. You must wait…no matter how long. They should go and ask Zero I ended.  We went back to an action sight even fewer than before. I was nearly lynched. So ...

So that was that for the politics. But the traffic was heavy and we needed to pass through Bukom for kenkey and fish. What more?  IN BETWEEN THE SQUARE AND THE FREEMAN CHURCH, THE TRAFIC WAS BUILT HEAVY. What again then all of a sudden I saw twenty at once. I FROZE…WHAT IS THIS…THEN TEN MORE…THEN THEY STOPPED. BY NOW THEY HAD ENGULFED US…OH MY GOD THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS…THEY COULD PASS FROM ASAFO TO, UN BOYS TO LABOURERS, COMMUNITY VOLU ANYTHING.OH MY GOD! I FROZE MORE..SOME ONE HAD CALLED THEIR ATTENTION TO STOP.THEY STOP RIGHT WHERE OUR CAR STOOD.I WAS EVEN TRYING TO HIDE MY FACE BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH YOU COULD IDENTIFY INDIVIDUALS…IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO SAY AT THAT POINT WHO THEY WERE, WHAT THEY WANTED AND WHY…BUT ONE THING FOR CERTAIN WAS..THEY COULD EASILY KILL YOU AND BURY YOU BEFORE THE POLICE COME.  I HAD NOT HEARD ANY OF THE RADIO ANNUNCEMENTS.

Then it was relayed quickly for them to proceed, so they all started trooping towards the Kwatie Kojo street.  That was the real call for Odododiodoo. This is Odododiodoo our heritage and the sole of the capital.  Just quick clearances. It has rules that govern the community and the people are custodian. What she did was shout Odododiodoo! And is this what she expected? I did not think so.  I am an advocate and wear a badge against women testing…You could argue but my only prove is not pretending to be camping one Broody or the other.  But the people are not on the same page with me. They have a culture to protect. That is your choice if it is a political debate or your call.  So when I got home the story was more than I thought. They had started from Zongo lane, sweeping the neighbourhood and looking for who is who. I would not joke with how armed and dangerous they look. Cutlasses hoe, shovel, pick-axe pan? My God!

This would do for our issue on Sovereignty. POWER RESIDING IN THE PEOPLE.  You missed the action boss. But I did not go out to see. But I heard,’don’t go, we will go .Don’t go, We Well go. Then gun shots on the main road. I saw them I managed to say. We all saw them. Master, they were nothing like the order in which the Manchester moves were moving koraa. Who are the Manchester boys? One may ask rightly?

About a year ago, I came out of 66 Asafoatse Nettey Road one Friday morning at about eleven onto the street and was met by a youth group numbering about forty. They were in red and black regales and were coming in a rhyme. It was the burial of one of the group members.  But the important thing is what the words in their local folk songs in Ga were saying. I came out to find out only yesterday their name as Manchester boys based in Chorkor. The tile of the song is Wolelai in Ga which means we know them. This song makes a compares with the two main presidential candidates of the NDC and the NPP.

Their number is more than forty since in it is like an important group to aspire for as a youth in chorkor. I must say I have been listening around for them until now, since the words kept coming back to me.  They have a compilation which I find very interesting and the other side of how the government message is being interpreted at the grass roots level. There is a song on the position on the Gay right issue to name but a few.
Then by evening when we came to have a a drink to catch up the gossip, it was a normal town again. Up till now I can hear the police siren and patrol all in the neighbourhood. But always a step behind these youth groups who know where the police live and do not compromise with their culture. That is what I have come to fear about the people. After a radical action, they leave for you to analyse. Please Mr Police I am glad you came afterwards.Your lifes are not worth the hot headedness of our neighbourhood. I find it sad when people say the Divisional Commander should resign.

Go back to historic days and get the concept right if we want to engage in politics.  I want to assure Madam that in as much as I sympathize with her; she is in a middle of a culture and political debate….The people punch with equal gloves. By the end of this month, it is time to plant corn and lay ban on drumming. Did she not realize that the youth are gathering for their traditional Passover? Please do not become Pharaoh or Pharaoh because they are ordained.  What becomes for sane decision making when these people have to take decision?

The idea of national advancement needs flexibility and dynamism to make it revolve along side the times. Square pegs in round holes we can call it does not work.  Every one has apiece together with which we find the clue. Even before we can strategise.

THE CULTURE OF OPPOSITION

How then does the majority or any government get so much resistance….  At what level do the people give the power to individuals or at what time do individuals take power from the people. It has been the norm of our politics from its inception. The people have power only during election and after that the power stays in government till they are needed again.  But it is in conflict with national advancement based on the facts that with business decision and day to day government administration, we can only work with the variables of an existing market situation. One panel on the Asempa Fm show was of the opinion that to be in opposition was for the purpose of opposing the ruling government. So when is it national development and when is it political.
Sovereignty is not won in tatters. It is won in organised planning and formula to give effective results in the International composure in general.

When will an issue be of national importance means a benefit to both government and people as a whole and agreed?  Well with regards to the year in perspective, I was looking at the opposition make the following references:

How far has the constitution reviewed gone?
What will be the input of the coming policy Fair?
What do we do about the energy situation?
An issue I cannot help but bring up. Have we seen the kind of development going on in the country?
Why do they not equate the issues to the diseconomies of scales which are tangible variables to be worked with?

Then the issue of the dollar fluctuating. .If I do not get twenty dollars gift, I don’t need to know the rate. But you in the market are witness in the kind of situation which causes the dollar to fluctuate.  What about the economic indicators… fastest growing economy , single digit inflation which I cannot pretend I do not understand, Example at twelve o’clock in the middle of the night what does management do when the club is full, causing a strain on supply, there are people outside queuing to come in and the number of security is not trusting.

That is what happens anywhere there is something good. But for starters, increase the gate fee, price of drinks, and when all that fails, then members only. These are simple and accessible market situations.  For the purpose of National advancement, it neither become necessary for even protectionist measure for the economy not to be over burden nor stressed.  But now the times and tides are global to say the least.

A leading economy like ours cannot afford detraction even from our most beloved.  Has the emergence of a son of Dr Nkrumah not scared anyone in the detractive realm?  I never thought by this time of the year the tides could turn to this direction by please listen to the NDC divide that is coming out…Very JJ like.

So the green book issue. Both commentators called from the opposition party said they did not have read the document even before dismissing it. I thought that was very dangerous.  I was not going to come now. But violence in Odododiodoo? WHERE, WHEN, HOW? …..The Institute has an interest.  It is an object set in subjects. Gone are the days when pure water sale was for children being maltreated, now it is the fastest role over after school. And don’t think the kids by the road are sad any more. It is just this urge of dependence and sustainability that is gradually creeping to our world. An end to an era of Capitalist intentions and trickle down, till self sufficiency and sustenance.

I use to feel sad when Prof Mills was been attacked on simple ethical and moral grounds, (Respect for the aged) I have even deliberately not heard the action of leaders for shame of condemnation.  Now I am telling you the man is ready and far ahead of the people. Same Like Dr Nkrumah…My only advice is not to consult too much with the opposing like he did. I am still hearing the police maintain calm and making the area tensed…But Please if you do that, it only victimizing we who live here.  I have to come back very soon. But for now from where I stand, the issues are still of  Leading world economy, single digit inflation, and middle class status.

Which would you rather…Servitude in tranquillity? Or National freedom now?

The issue is very ironical and I an sorry I an the one to bring our notice to it.  At central Police Command, An NDC minister was arrested for electoral interference whiles just down the road at James town command the Divisional commander is being asked to resign for being biased towards the ruling party.

Can you imagine the effort that the parties would have contributed to national advancement?
We must draw a thick line between leadership and our culture politics..  But if you ask me?  Prof can have a second term without your help thank you.
